This time, we’re featuring a popular title!

What Kind of Manga is One Piece in Love?

To put it simply,

Please read the manga “Koi Suru One Piece” (One Piece in Love).

Yes, you can read the first chapter here!

One Piece in Love, as the name suggests, is an official spin-off manga of the original ONE PIECE manga. The spin-off was serialized on Shonen Jump+ in 2025.

“I’m not interested in spin-off manga; do you think the original work is the best?” It’s understood that the original work is supreme, with joy and sorrow at the source. However, this work made by Daiki Ihara isn’t just a spin-off manga. The author’s extraordinary love and knowledge of One Piece, and a deep passion for mystery are woven into a “spin-off manga where no One Piece character appears”. All the characters are original. There are also no pirates.

Synopsis

What’s written here from now on is both a lie and the truth. An ordinary high school student attending a certain school, “Yamamoto Pirate King (Yamamoto Luffy)”, was relentlessly bullied by his classmates because of his name. “Nami Koyama”, who secretly has a crush on him, tells him that she has the same name as the character from the popular manga ONE PIECE. This brings the two closer together. Being bullied by those around you also makes you feel a special connection between the two. These were Nami’s bittersweet true feelings. ONE PIECE connects with the irreplaceable youth of these two high school students.

Their first meeting ends on page 6.

The person who suddenly appears (really appears suddenly) in front of Luffy and Nami was a person with the same ONE PIECE character name Nakatsugawa Usopp. He truly loves ONE PIECE, so he visits them to befriend them and wants to start a “pirate club.” Because Usopp loves ONE PIECE so much, all his words and actions reference the manga and he’s truly crazy. And so, Nami, who dreams of love and youth, is met with Usopp who always asks how far you’re reading ONE PIECE.

Characters

The key character in this work. Usopp is a ONE PIECE fanatic in this story. All his words and actions are ONE PIECE references, and he’s always looking for friends (sometimes antagonists and supporting characters) missing from the story. He’s given roles of One Piece characters to each pair of glasses he owns. Usopp usually behaves like a gentleman and feels like an aristocrat. However, to embody the world of ONE PIECE, he calmly set fire (flame star) and steals from the zoo (attempting to rescue Chopper) with his elegance. Afterwards, he continues to act at unbelievable speeds saying things like “That’s a crime, isn’t it?”, but his financial status and strength aren’t clarified so it’s not important.

The heroine of this work. Nami is an ordinary girl who has a crush on her classmate, the Pirate King (Luffy), and appears everywhere! However, everything collapsed when she met Usopp. As the chapters progress, Nami’s accuracy increases, and she is the only person in the world who can keep up with him. ONE PIECE’s knowledge is abnormal, and Nami uses that knowledge to fight back against Usopp’s eccentricities. I feel sorry for her, but because of Usopp’s appearance, people around him think they are unmistakably part of Usopp’s band.

He should be the main character. A boy that Nami has feelings for. Luffy is kind-hearted, calm, and not good at fighting. He’s the exact opposite of Luffy, the main character of ONE PIECE, but he wants to try to live up to his name. He doesn’t like insects either.

Usopp made Luffy head of the pirate club, but Luffy’s knowledge of ONE PIECE was like an average person. Although he’s surprised by Usopp’s eccentricity, Luffy tries his best to keep up with him because his friends do the same. However, because he’s so ordinary, he can’t do it and feels pitiful. He doesn’t seem to hate Nami, according to the manga, and there are occasional heart-wrenching scenes.

A real deer from a zoo. It wasn’t a stolen deer but gifted as a better chopper as thanks for saving the zoo from danger.  (The crime was committed by a madman who thought the escaped lion was Ricky of the Buggy gang). He gets a rumble ball as food.

Because the pirate club was almost disbanded for not having enough members, Brook was suddenly created as a member. He was made from a mannequin and a wig borrowed by Luffy from the biological preparation room. (He couldn’t borrow the skeleton.) Usopp installed a thought circuit program on Brook, but because of his clumsiness, he lost his perspective and wants everyone to show him their panties.

A girl who’s Nami’s classmate. She’s a good cook and became involved with the pirate club by chance. Because of her culinary skills, she was given the title of Sanji. Sato is cheerful and easy-going. She smiles at Usopp’s madness, but since she’s hasn’t read ONE PIECE, conversations don’t connect with the original intentions. As such, she attempts to make the “All-Blue.”

A male high school student in the kendo club who’s serious about club activities. He has a serious and straightforward personality.

Usopp, who felt that Zoro was missing, took advantage of Ken’s innocence and almost forced him to join the pirate club. At one point, he was given a real sword and caught by police on the way to a kendo tournament. However, Ken awakened his explosive speed and finished the tournament as a runner-up, so he had real swordsman skills. And so, the madness of Usopp’s lies continued to grow ever since.

Let’s meet again in the New World!

“Read it, I left everything in this world there.”

It’s much better to read One Piece in Love now instead of this article. There is youth, excitement, and the ever-increasing useless knowledge of ONE PIECE. When you begin thinking, “I’m reading ONE PIECE!”, you won’t be able to say it again. Because if you read One Piece in Love, you’ll read the original ONE PIECE that creates so much madness.

Now, I’d like to ask all of humanity to read the manga “One Piece in Love”.
